Welcome to the UTKM Full Instructor Theory Certification Course. This course is designed for students pursuing Full Instructor Certification. It is extensive and academically demanding—if you do not plan to run your own school or lead a full program, you should strongly consider the Assistant Instructor Course instead. You will work through UTKM’s advanced theory curriculum from an instructor’s perspective, with a higher standard than a regular student. This is a partially self-guided program completed at your own pace, with support and oversight from your assigned UTKM Lead Instructor. Expect a significant workload, including: Multiple written essays and assignments Written and video submissions Unit tests A midterm and final exam Instructor discussions and feedback Most candidates complete this theory phase in ~6 months with 4–6 hours per week of focused study and writing. With work, kids, or other commitments, it may take 12–24 months to complete the theory portion alone. Important: To be certified, you must also complete the in-person instructor pathway (including a teaching practicum) and achieve UTKM Blue Belt. Requirements & Key Info Minimum rank: Candidates should have, or be close to, UTKM Orange Belt. Certification disclaimer: Completing this course does not guarantee certification. Additional phases and in-person training are required (~3–24 months, depending on rank and practicum availability). Fees & What’s Included Your course fee includes the in-person teaching practicum and other required instructor training connected to this certification pathway. It does not include regular student membership fees, or any fees associated with belt testing (including belt test fees and related requirements). Additional Notes No refunds: Once you begin Unit 1, refunds are not available. Updates: Course content is updated periodically. Even certified instructors are expected to revisit materials to stay current.
