Welcome to UTKM University, or UTKMU for short, the online training website for Urban Tactics Krav Maga (UTKM) based in Vancouver, British Columbia (BC), Canada. This website is open to all martial arts practitioners, Krav Maga or otherwise, all over the world (including UTKM students), as a means to supplement their regular training. UTKM, is general considered BC’s top Krav Maga school, we are passionate about teaching Krav Maga, and we are happy to have you learn from us. While Krav Maga techniques and methods may vary globally, the philosophies and applications are fundamentally the same. What makes UTKM different is the structure of our curriculum and our belief in teaching “conceptual self-defence”, which starts with Critical Thinking and an awareness mindset, rather than just techniques.

No matter your rank, organization, or background, we invite you to learn from UTKM so that you may improve your ability to defend yourself or add a different perspective to your existing skills, one that you might never have thought of.

UTKM is run by Lead Instructor Jonathan Fader who began his Krav Maga journey in 2008 and has since been certified in four Krav Maga organizations. Jon served in the IDF from 2009-2011, in the Givati infantry regiment, and has been bolstering his Krav Maga knowledge with regular training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) since 2012.
